Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
The solid garnet color of the wine shows off in heavy, tinted legs, indicating good extraction. The nose follows through with a bonanza of sweet, black fruit; berries, currants, licorice and secondary notes of spicy oak and dark earth. A light touch of acidity and a hint of sweet alcohol carries the flavors through a haze of chewy tannins that melt slowly into a minutes-long finish. Pair it with lamb chops and rib-eyes and spare a bit to create the perfect sauce. It has the grace to stand up to duck breast and the power to complement game. |

Ehlers Lane Vineyard Chardonnay 2008
The lovely pale gold hue does not prepare you for this intense nose that fills the glass. Sweet Vanillin is noticeable, but just barely outweighs tropical aromas of ripe pineapple, tangerine and coconut. Caramel, rosemary and limestone are just hinted at but will certainly develop over time. The palate is full-bodied and rich but with a thrill of lemon acidity that keeps things lively. Flavors of citrus and subtle oak dominate but the nose is echoed as well. A joy to drink on its own, this wine will also pair beautiful with scallops, fresh crab in lemon butter or lobster Thermidor. For Contrast pairings, try it with mild Thai dishes, jerk chicken and roast pork.
